Glad to see someone presenting a map based on keywords! You gave us some great ideas! Nice!

Wanted to mention a couple more free tools I use for social keyword research:
    topsy.com
    oneriot.com
    surchur.com

    Add Technorati tags to that.

    Bookmarking & referencing this again!!!

    Cheers Dana.

It all starts with the keywords (offline as well - why do you think infomercials use them liberally throughout an ad?) :)

All great tools you mention there - there are so many that to list them all could take a while (not to mention filling up a screen pretty quickly!) :)

The great thing about them is that they all offer some use to someone, so what you or I might find useful, someone else may find less so. And, obviously, vice versa. Knowing how (and why) to use them, though - that's the starter for us all.

Cheers for stopping by and sharing your lists, appreciated!

You have me motivated to create a new social keyword research spreadsheet. I've been adding columns to my typical "search queries" sheet for social search. I'm excited and inspired by your strategy map! Admittedly, I often overlook searching on Facebook (a duh moment) and appreciate the tip and the actionable takeaways!

It's funny how often Facebook is overlooked; I think a lot of companies feel that it's "just a place where friends hang out." But guess what - these friends still need to be someone's customer. If you can see that they're talking about a product or service that's relevant to you - and that they've set up a group just to do that - well, I think the answer's pretty clear that there's a world of opportunity there!

Best instant action steps after determining your keywords that I've seen yet. Nicely done!

Very nice diagram. Not as simple as you made it look, which is the value. Thanks for the present!

    Hey, you remembered! :)

Cheers Donna, and if my design skills were up to any kind of scratch it would have taken me a lot less to put together as well. One of the reasons I'll never shout at a creative again ;-)

Best step-by-step I've ever seen on how to really "listen," which everyone SAYS to do but never really explains how or even what that really means.

Thanks Michael, really appreciate that bud, especially coming from someone who shares lessons like you do. I'm liking the PowerPoint to Slideshare option too, so I may just try and throw some more nice pics together soon :)

This is without a doubt one of the best explanation of using social media for a business. I plan to adopt it to other types of business. Way to go Danny!!!

Wow. Simplicity at its best for understanding. You've given us some very practical and relevant steps to follow. This is a winner for sure.

    Thanks Danny!

Danny, great slide deck. It's not often that people go past just talking about the "theory" and concepts behind something and actually provide us with actionable steps we can take. Very simple, yet very effective tips on building our social media map! Good stuff, man!

Cheers Jackie, glad you enjoyed. It's one of my pet peeves, the amount of "why" as opposed to the "how". Something I'm looking to share more of in the coming weeks and months - stay tuned! :)

    Great slide show Danny!
