Wonderful mixture of words, images, music and positive, powerful intention. Thank you.

Re: Pale Blue Dots

I really liked this. It reminded me of the Ning group Grace in Small Things. The site encourages members to write 5 things that they are grateful for everyday. Whether you do that through the site or on a sheet of paper by your desk it's a great way to - as you say - take that look around and recognize your place in the world.

GIST:http://graceinsmallthings.n...

Re: Pale Blue Dots

Danny,
I always appreciate your posts as they are quite inspiring, not only from a "marketing/social media" vein but from a personal level as well! Which kind of makes you wonder what some people are like offline - until you see the mess the world is in.

Thankfully, as you say, people are realizing it more and true connection is happening - we just need to help it along.

Re: Pale Blue Dots

I love the section on being a show-off. I'm a firm believer in sharing information, whether it comes from me or somebody else. Promoting other people's blog, comments, website etc...not only helps those around you, it builds your own credibility because people know you are a resource of good information.

Re: Pale Blue Dots

What a nice little riff, Danny.

These principles have always been true (social media doesn't change that at all). But you're right: it does make it easier to see through bad intent.

Other-promotion is probably one of the most important tenants of mass-connection. It may take a while for people to recognize that, but when they do I think the planet will be a brighter shade of blue. (I hope.)

It's a non-linear world and Moore's Law is bending the curves even sharper than ever before. It's probably a good thing, then, that we have a chance to connect with other brains: it's getting harder every day to stand your own ground when little pale blue dots start spinning faster than they used to.

Phil Baumann's Recent post...null

Re: Pale Blue Dots

Wonderful Call to Action challenge. All we need is for people to recognize this more and encourage each other as much (if not more) as we promote ourselves.

Re: Pale Blue Dots

@ Sam. I just saw that post now, popping back to read properly. Actually, the lack of daylight just means I have to open my eyes more when it's around ;-)

@ Tim. It's like you say, Tim - there's a whole world going on around us. We just need to look.

@ Harold. Good to have you aboard, and hopefully see you around more sharing your views. Good to know that you found the eco option useful, it's only a small thing but can make such a difference to the planet. Look forward to reading your thoughts (here and at your own blog) in 2009.

@ Mike. Thanks, Mike, and glad you enjoyed the video as well. Carl Sagan was a true inspiration and will be missed.

Thanks for stopping by, guys, and offering your views - you make it all worthwhile.

Re: Pale Blue Dots

Powerful post, and an even more powerful video.
