All that's needed is for everyone to open up and share. :)

Re: The Four I's of Social Media | danny brown

Sorry - that link should be active at http://cli.gs/4mtheory

Re: The Four I's of Social Media | danny brown

Hey Danny -

Great post, and it reminds me of one I wrote a few weeks ago called The 4M Theory of Social Media Releases ( cli.gs/4mtheory ). I think that the two strategies are complimentary, and I'm probably going to spend some time today thinking about yours.

I definitely like Invest and Interact on your list - I'm going to start using those words instead of the cheesy phrase "put the 'social' in social media."

Re: The Four I's of Social Media | danny brown

I guess we're all into acronyms...I recently wrote about a BETTER approach to social media.

Belong
Engage
Transparent
Trust
Explore
React

Thanks for sharing your acronym!

Matt

Re: The Four I's of Social Media | danny brown

Thanks Jeff. I often find that acronyms offer a much easier way to remember a message, or get it across. Guess it stems from my marketing days. ;-)

Love the L.E.A.R.N. aspect of your message - as you say, too many people/companies do forget about the social aspect of social media, and then wonder why they're not seeing any benefits from their involvement.

I guess it's up to the proponents of social media to continue to help get the message across and educate as much as possible that it's the interaction that's key - everything else will follow.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting, appreciate your time.

Re: The Four I's of Social Media | danny brown

Danny, the FOUR I's are great, thanks! I am a glutton for acronyms and recently wrote similarly about L.E.A.R.N., which stands for Listen, Engage, Accept, React and Nurture.

In particular I like that you included the concept of "INVEST." Too many folks and companies seem to think they can dive into Social Media and somehow gain instant results. Not so, as you clearly and consisely explain.

Jeff Sass´s last blog post..Learn Baby Learn: Turn Your Social Media Addiction Into An Asset
